Episode 16 - yuInterview: Max Orozco [Multidisciplinary applied research and entrepreneur]

Max Orcozo is an entrepreneur from Los Angeles. He is engaged in healthcare, higher education, and interactive application. This week, Max will share his school life in Los Angeles and begin his entrepreneurial adventure. Max holds a Master of Integrated Design, Business, and Technology offered by the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, a Bachelor of Psychology offered by the University of San Francisco in San Francisco, California.


Max is an expert in developmental neuroimaging using MRI technology. Max has held research positions at USC’s Connectivity and Network Development Lab and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. With deep technical knowledge of radiology data analytics and child MRI acquisition, Max ensures Ready Teddy solves problems for patients and clinicians alike.


Max’s Description:

I’m Max Orozco, a designer and creative technologist exploring human-centered engineering applications with a particular interest in healthcare.


Utilizing Computer Vision, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Deepfakes, IoT, my work focuses on human-computer interaction, healthcare, and creative problem-solving. Products include Ready Teddy, a VR exposure therapy tool to prepare young children for an MRI. In addition, my team created a product enabling seniors to access VR content in conjunction with reminiscence therapy techniques to relive loved experiences. My background is in academic neuroscience. For seven years, I used MRI techniques to discover new insights into the developing brain—working in laboratories at UCSF, UCLA, CHLA, and USC. I’ve had the privilege of working with brilliant minds in science. I continue to apply the same academic rigor to applied research of emerging technologies.
